Honda Rebel 500 Revealed for India; To Launch as CKD Model Later This Year

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has confirmed that the Rebel 500 will be launched later this year as part of its expanded premium two-wheeler portfolio. The announcement came alongside seven all-new models and three refreshed offerings that were showcased for India.

Unlike its predecessor, which was sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the new Rebel 500 will arrive as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model. This should help Honda position the motorcycle more competitively, with expected prices ranging between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh (ex-showroom). The E-Clutch variant, which has also been confirmed, will command a premium over the standard version. However, the company is yet to announce a launch date.

The Rebel 500 is a mid-size cruiser with a low-slung stance and a bobber-inspired design. It is powered by a 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that develops 46hp at 8,500rpm and 43.3Nm at 6,000rpm. Buyers will have the option of choosing between the standard six-speed manual transmission and Honda’s E-Clutch system.

The motorcycle rides on a 130/90-16 front tyre and a 150/80-16 rear tyre, while its kerb weight stands at 191kg. More details, including variant-wise specifications, colour options, and official pricing, are expected closer to the launch later this year.
