The Bugatti Chiron is no ordinary hypercar. It represents some of the most amazing collections of numbers. As such, it is quite a popular car among the top sports personalities and billionaires.
That being said, the Bugatti Chiron is a rare hypercar with a starting price of AED 1,32,20,000 (Rs 29.42 crore, approximately). This means only the wealthiest can afford one and maintain the hypercar.
However, a group of youngsters in Vietnam have made a replica of the Bugatti Chiron hypercar at their home for a fraction of the cost of the original. What is even more astonishing is that the replica of the Bugatti Chiron was built in just one year.
The video of this replica of the Bugatti Chiron hypercar was uploaded to Youtube by Yaseen Vlogs when they visited Vietnam. However, the video only shows the built car and does not show how the Vietnamese youngsters built the car.
In the video, it is mentioned that the car is made from clay. However, we think it could be the result of the communication barrier between the vloggers and the makers of the replica.
Like any car manufacturer, we think the model of the Bugatti Chiron must have been made using clay to get the proportions right. Post which, a few layers of fibreglass sheets would have been pasted on top.
Once these fibreglass sheets are dried, the clay will be removed and more layers of fibreglass sheets will be pasted to add more strength to the panels. Furthermore, these panels will be sanded and a layer of putty will be applied to achieve an even finish.
Furthermore, it is also worth mentioning that the attention to detail of these Vietnamese car builders is excellent as they have also replicated the interior of the Bugatti Chiron. While the Chiron replica headlights have been imported from China, the taillights are made from resin.
That being said, powering the Bugatti Chiron replica is not a Quad-turbo W16 engine or any other exotic powertrain but a reliable internal combustion engine from Toyota. Unfortunately, the video does not specify other details of the powertrain.
Thoughts: The total cost of the project is said to be approximately Rs 27 lakh, which is just a fraction of what the original Bugatti Chiron hypercar costs. It is also worth mentioning that the builders of the Chron replica have done a tremendous job considering the limited resource.
