A Closer Look At The New Ola Roadster X Plus With 125 Kmph Top Speed, 500 Km Range

Ola Electric Roadster X Plus Price, Range And Features

As the pace of growth in India’s electric motorcycle segment picks up, Ola Electric has recently updated its Roadster lineup with the Roadster X and Roadster X Plus. While the Roadster X has been grabbing headlines for its affordable price tag of Rs 79,999 ex-showroom, the Roadster X Plus, on the other hand, is the new flagship and offers features such as a 125 kmph top speed and 500 Km of IDC-certified range. Let’s take a closer look at what’s updated for the new Roadster top-end variant.

Ola Roadster X Plus

Based on Ola Electric’s website, the standard Roadster electric bike is still on offer. The Original Roadster has a price tag of Rs 1.05 lakh ex-showroom and it offers 17.4 hp peak power and 126 kmph of top speed, along with an IDC-certified range figure of 248 km with the 6 kWh battery pack. Smaller 3.5 kWh and 4.5 kWh battery options are available in the standard Roadster as well.

For Rs 5,000 more, buyers can upgrade to the new Roadster X Plus, which is more advanced and has better range. In comparison, the X Plus version offers a slight compromise in peak power at 14.7 hp and top speed at 125 kmph. However, the gains are in the larger battery packs and the range. The Roadster X Plus gets the much bigger 9.1 kWh battery pack and the option of a 4.5 kWh battery pack as well. However, the larger battery also gives the X Plus an IDC-certified range of 500 km, which is considerably higher than the standard model and well worth the Rs 5,000 investment.

Ola Roadster (Standard)

The other major difference between the standard and the X Plus Roadster is in the braking department, where the standard model gets disc brakes with brake-by-wire, the new X Plus only gets a front disc brake with brake-by-wire. Similarly, while the standard model gets Eco, Normal and Hyper riding modes, the X Plus now comes with Eco, Normal and Sport riding modes. Last but not least, while the Roadster gets a monoshock at the rear, the new X Plus variant comes with hydraulic shock absorbers.

It seems like Ola Electric is attempting to strike a balance with the new X Plus, where performance is a priority but efficiency remains the central focus with the bigger battery and more modest performance characteristics. Other goodies such as cruise control, park assist, brake regeneration, over-the-air updates and more remain in the Roadster X Plus arsenal for rider convenience.

Overall, if performance is your only priority and you intend to use your electric bike within city limits, then the standard Roadster offers a more focused package. If everyday comfort and long range matter to you more, then the new Roadster X Plus fits the bill better at a premium of Rs 5,000.
