Aprilia India Extends Warranty On RS 457 And Tuono 457 Amid Engine Issue Reports

In a move aimed at regaining customer trust, Aprilia India has extended the standard warranty for its RS 457 and Tuono 457 motorcycles. The updated coverage now stands at four years or 48,000 km, up from the previous three years or 36,000 km. The decision comes in the wake of growing concerns over engine reliability, particularly with the RS 457.

The enhanced warranty is applicable not only to new buyers but also to existing owners, and it carries the added benefit of being transferable. This means that if a motorcycle is sold, the warranty coverage will remain in effect for the subsequent owner—a move that could bolster resale value and attract prospective buyers in the used market.

Aprilia’s decision follows multiple reports of engine-related problems with the RS 457, which have reportedly led to a dip in customer inquiries and overall market interest in both models. The company has not issued a formal recall but is taking this step as a proactive measure to address customer concerns and reinforce confidence in the brand.

However, some ambiguity remains for current owners regarding the possibility of purchasing additional coverage beyond the new standard terms. The company has yet to clarify whether separate extended warranty plans will be offered for those who may still have concerns.

As Aprilia India rolls out this updated policy, the coming months will be critical in determining whether the strategy succeeds in reversing the decline in interest and restoring the brand’s reputation in the entry-level performance motorcycle segment.
