Ather Rolls Out Voice Command Feature for Select Models

Ather Rolls Out Voice Command Feature for Select Models

  • Feature available to all Gen 3 and newer scooter owners
  • Not supported on the 450S and Rizta S
  • Allows riders to interact with their scooters

Ather Energy has rolled out its new ‘Voice on Ather’ feature to all Gen 3 and newer scooter owners. It is available on the Ather 450X, 450 Apex, and Rizta Z equipped with Gen 3 hardware or newer. The feature allows riders to interact with their scooters using natural voice commands, similar to virtual assistants found on smartphones.

Powered by a large language model (LLM), the system is designed to understand Indian accents and conversational speech. Riders can use voice commands for navigation, vehicle settings, phone calls, notifications, and media controls. For example, users can ask for the nearest charging station, check their ETA, adjust screen brightness, or change traction control modes.

The feature works with the Ather Halo smart helmet as well as third-party Bluetooth headsets, including devices from brands such as Sena and Cardo. Ather is also working on making the system more interactive. Future updates are expected to enable the scooter to proactively alert riders about things like potholes, tyre pressure warnings, and ParkSafe notifications.

Do note that the feature is not supported on the 450S and Rizta S. Eligible users are receiving the update via an over-the-air (OTA) software rollout.
