Aprilia SXR 125 & SXR 160 Discontinued in India

  • Removed from the official website
  • Dealers have stopped receiving stocks

Aprilia has discontinued its maxi-style scooters, the SXR 125 and the bigger SXR 160, in India. The scooters have been removed from the brand’s official website, and dealers have been out of stock for a while. Whether their updated or next-generation counterparts will replace these maxi-scooters is still not known.

Lack of demand and low sales seem to be the plausible reasons for the discontinuation of the SXR twins in India. The SXR 160 was launched towards the end of 2020, while its smaller 125cc sibling came later in 2021. They garnered decent sales during their initial stint in India. However, the demand gradually dipped, especially for the SXR 160, following the introduction of more enticing alternatives like the Yamaha Aerox 155. As of today, the 150-160cc scooter space has other strong contenders too, including the Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 150.

Aprilia’s current scooter portfolio in India comprises the SR 125 and the SR 175, both of which are much sportier scooters than the SXR twins in terms of design and hardware. While the company’s website also has the SR 160 listed, it is just a matter of time before it will be removed once dealers run out of stock.
