Ather EL01-Based Electric Scooter Spotted Testing

  • Design is similar to the EL01 concept
  • Will support battery capacity ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh
  • Launch likely by the 2026 festive season

The first scooter based on the Ather EL platform has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The test mule looks similar to the EL01 concept that was unveiled at Ather Community Day 2025.

The brand had recently patented the design of the EL01 in India, indicating that a production-spec version of the upcoming scooter will carry forward a similar design. The scooter looks like a simple family-oriented scooter with a clean design, featuring an LED headlight and DRL setup at the front.

The test mule will likely feature the same 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup as the concept. The concept was equipped with a 7-inch TFT console, with smartphone connectivity and related features. But on the production-spec version, features may vary depending on the variant.

With the EL platform, the brand is building multiple scooters with different body styles and performance levels. As part of the EL platform, some parts will be shared in common, such as the unibody steel tubular frame and floorboard-mounted battery pack. This architecture could spawn a family-oriented scooter, a maxi-style scooter, and even a utility-focused one. The battery capacity will vary from 2kWh to 5kWh, depending on the model.

The brand will likely launch this upcoming scooter by the 2026 festive season, and it could be priced competitively around the Rs. 1.05 lakh mark (ex-showroom). If Ather decides to offer the scooter with a Battery-as-a-Service scheme, then it could be even more affordable.
