Ather Konarc spotted testing in the Himalayas ahead of launch

The Ather Konarc electric scooter is all set to launch on 29 August and, in the run-up to its debut, the scooter was spotted undergoing testing in the Himalayas.

For the uninitiated, the Ather Konarc is the official name of Ather’s new family scooter, which is based on the brand-new EL01 platform. The scooter focuses on offering comfort, practicality and affordability, something that was difficult for Ather to achieve with the sportier 450X platform.

According to Ather, the scooter was tested in cold conditions for 60 days, with temperatures ranging between -4 and 3 degrees Celsius. The tests were aimed at evaluating battery efficiency, performance and charging capabilities in low temperatures.

The spy images reveal a more conventional design compared to Ather’s sporty 450 range. The scooter gets a rectangular LED headlamp, a curved DRL on the front apron, a broad floorboard and a long, single-piece seat. It is also expected to offer a host of features.

Technical specifications are yet to be revealed. However, the EL01 platform can support battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh.

The upcoming Ather Konarc is expected to rival the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Hero Vida range when it goes on sale in India. More details, including specifications and pricing, will be revealed at its launch later this month at Ather Community Day.
