BMW R 12 G/S Trophy Bike Built to Be Used Hard

  • Based on the BMW R 12 G/S
  • Off-road tyres, 18-inch rear wheel and engine protection
  • Customers can build a near-replica using factory accessories

BMW Motorrad has revealed the R 12 G/S GS Trophy Competition motorcycle that they’ve prepared for the 2026 BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy in Romania. Now this bike will not be sold in this exact form, but BMW says customers can recreate almost the complete specification by configuring a regular R 12 G/S with official equipment and accessories.

The Enduro Package Pro is the key hardware upgrade which includes off-road tyres, an 18-inch rear wheel and handlebar risers. These changes give the R 12 G/S a more focused stance for loose and uneven terrain. The 18-inch rear wheel adds to a wider choice of serious off-road tyres than the more road-oriented alternatives commonly used on adventure motorcycles.

Handlebar risers help create a more natural standing position for riders who spend a large amount of time standing during technical off-road sections. Engine protection bars and cylinder-head covers are a welcome addition because of the cylinder layout. There’s also useful lifting points when the motorcycle does fall.

BMW R 12 Instrument Cluster

The Trophy bike receives BMW’s Comfort Package packed with Hill Start Control, Gear Shift Assist Pro, heated grips and cruise control. Some of these features may appear more touring-focused than competition-led, but they make sense during a long multi-day events. Hill Start Control helps hold the motorcycle when starting on an incline. Gear Shift Assist Pro permits clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Heated grips are another practical addition for Romania’s changing conditions.

The motorcycle also gets Headlight Pro with an adaptive cornering light. This adjusts illumination according to the motorcycle’s lean, improving visibility through turns. That Rally cockpit fairing adds some wind protection while giving the bike a more competition-ready appearance. Navigation preparation is also included allowing the team to fit the required navigation equipment neatly within the rider’s view.

BMW R 12 Silencer/Muffler

BMW has fitted an Akrapovic silencer to reduce some weight while giving the boxer engine a more purposeful exhaust note. An unusual detail is the five-litre tank bag mounted at the rear and used as a tail bag. This keeps the area directly ahead of the rider clear which is useful when moving forward over the tank during steep climbs or technical off-road riding.

The Trophy motorcycle is finished in Lightwhite with blue tank graphics and a red seat. These colours bring BMW Motorrad’s familiar motorsport theme to the R 12 G/S without hiding its simple enduro proportions.
