Recently, we visited the famous Bulleteer Customs in Bangalore to see India’s first Electric Royal Enfield Bullet that was custom built by Mr. Ricardo and his team. We also got a chance to interact with him and find out a little more about the bike in detail.
The Electric Royal Enfield was built using a 1984 Royal Enfield Standard that Mr. Ricardo got from his father. He, for obvious reasons, never wanted to get rid of the motorcycle so he made the most of what he had and the modern era, and turned it into an eye-catching electric bobber.
From the chassis to the motor, Bulleteer Customs and their team worked non-stop to showcase an absolute work of art. The Electric Bullet gets a 5kW rear hub motor that is powered by a 72 Volt DC battery which, on a full charge and a non-aggressive riding style, can give a range of up to 90km.
Thanks to Mr. Ricardo, we got a chance to take the electric bobber out for a ride to experience what true hard work and passion feels like. The ride, to say the least, was quite surprising! It could maintain an average speed of 65-75km/h with ease however they claim a top speed of 90km/h!
In terms of ride feel, the electric bike was nothing short of impressive! It was easily manoeuvrable and wasn’t uncomfortable, at least in the short distance that we rode it in. Coming to road presence, the bike is head turner! It gets looks from everyone, right from little kids to fully grown adults.
When we look at the electric bike, the first thing we see is the colour combination of black, red, and white on a very classy and sleek neo-retro bobber. The motorcycle only has a single seat and it has a semi-relaxed position thanks to the front-kept footpegs but also a semi-sporty setup due to the cafe-racer style design.
Also, on the tank and in the front of the motorcycle, we can see the word ‘Gasoline’ in the colour red which makes it stand out and adds a sense of satire and comedic value to the modern-retro electric bike.
Now, being a custom-built bike, the question might be raised, how much does it cost? Well, considering it was in running condition within a week, the cost of the bike is Rs. 2.5 Lakhs. Once the build was completed, the total cost was around Rs. 3 lakh. However, there’s never too much to spend on something that makes us happy!
This first electric Royal Enfield Bullet in India is truly a work of art from Bulleteer Customs. From the design to powertrain, everything was thought of and looked into in detail. The electric Bullet’s modern-retro design is definitely a standout amongst other vehicles we see and will soon become a timeless piece!
