GIVI XSpace 27-36-Litre Expandable Case Revealed

  • Expands from 27 litres to 36 litres
  • Patented Monokey system and internal rack mechanism

GIVI has unveiled the new XSpace expandable motorcycle top case that is a bit more practical for versatile use. Instead of offering a fixed-volume box, XSpace can be used in two different configurations. In compact mode it offers 27 litres of storage for everyday riding and in expanded mode the capacity rises to 36 litres. This expanded ability makes it very useful for short trips, weekend rides and touring. No official India launch confirmation at the moment, but most larger dealers may offer direct imported units if you ask.

The central idea behind the XSpace is that most riders do not need a large case all the time, especially inside the city where a slimmer motorcycle is easier to manage. However, extra space may be required for a longer ride. GIVI is trying to solve that problem with a case that expands when needed, without forcing you to compromise on the content that you may carry or switch to a larger box.

XSpace has a capacity range of 27 litres to 36 litres as it expands by up to 60mm, offering a 33 percent increase in storage volume. The case measures 408mm by 498mm by 320mm in expanded form and the compact height is 260mm. It weighs 6kg itself with a maximum load rating of 10kg.

The case uses a patented mechanical system that allows telescopic expansion with the lid open. According to GIVI, the change can be made in a single action and does not require the case to be emptied. This system has been designed to maintain movement precision, structural strength and long-term reliability. The mechanism is built to prevent accidental or unauthorised activation when the motorcycle is parked so that riders feel safer when leaving the bike unattended.

In its 27-litre compact form, the XSpace suites daily commutes and urban use. This keeps the case smaller and should help maintain better aerodynamics, stability and riding comfort. Whereas in expanded mode the case grows to 36 litres and can hold one XXL GIVI modular helmet. That makes it more useful for riders who tour often or need to carry bulkier riding gear.

The patented Monokey fastening system has an internal rack mechanism for stability, integrated handles and materials claimed to resist shock, UV rays and weather exposure. GIVI says water resistance is maintained even when the case is expanded. The XSpace is also compatible with a BMW key and supports the Smart Security Lock System, although that is sold separately.

The XSpace will be available in two versions, one gets a black body with an anodised aluminium cover, while the other is a full-black version without aluminium. Standard equipment includes an internal elastic net and protective inner lining. Optional accessories include an upper luggage rack, a passenger backrest, an inner bag and a lock cylinder for use with the original BMW key.
