Goodbye Godzilla: R35 Nissan GT-R Production Ends

has closed the curtains on the R35 . Introduced in 2007 as the successor to the immensely popular R34, the ” enjoyed an 18-year successful production run. At the time of the production end, Japan was the only market where the GT-R was on sale, and Nissan confirmed that the demand was strong until the very end.

The R35 GT-R was introduced in 2007. In its 18 years of existence, its design hasn’t changed much. However, it has undergone several performance upgrades, ranging from engine tweaks to aerodynamic modifications.

The 2007-spec GT-R came with a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6. The hand-built engine produces 480 hp and 583 Nm of peak torque. Since then, the power of the ‘base’ version has gone up to 565 hp and 633 Nm of peak torque. The Nismo GT-R dials things up a notch with 600 hp and 652 Nm of torque.

Nissan hasn’t been clear about the GT-R’s future, but it has confirmed that the next-gen model will be electrified. The brand did release the Hyper Force concept, which previews the design of the new GT-R. However, Nissan has stated it is not in a hurry to introduce a replacement.
