Harley-Davidson Breakout Review: Image Gallery

The Breakout is one of the few original choppers straight from the factory. Selling this motorcycle in India is a brave move by Harley-Davidson and we recently got to spend quality some time with it. It was nothing short of an occasion every time we headed out on it. While our experience with the Breakout is comprehensively narrated in the first ride review, here’s a quick summary of it along with pictures for you to ogle at.

The Harley-Davidson Breakout grabs attention everywhere because of its sheer size, chrome-heavy styling, and the long and low-slung stance. People not only notice it, but also seem to admire it with a sense of awe and curiosity.

The quintessential chopper styling comprises a raked-out front, a fat 240-section rear tyre, a chopped rear fender, and a massive 21-inch front wheel.

The quality levels are impressive, especially the paint finish, switchgear, and small touches like the bullet-style indicators and chrome tank badge. However, the exposed welds near the handlebars feel rough and could have been finished better.

Powering the Breakout is a massive 1,923cc Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-twin engine that makes 101bhp and a staggering 168Nm of peak torque arriving at just 3,000rpm. The focus here is effortless performance and strong low-end pull.

On highways, the Breakout feels effortless and extremely enjoyable to ride. The strong torque allows quick acceleration and easy overtakes without frequent downshifts, while cruising at 100-120kmph feels relaxed.

Despite being over 300kg, the motorcycle is not as intimidating in city traffic as expected. The low seat height and comfortable ergonomics make it manageable, although the heavy clutch and engine heat can become tiring in traffic.

Ride quality is on the firmer side, especially on undulated cemented roads of Mumbai where potholes are in abundance. Besides, the super low 115mm ground clearance demands careful handling while going over speed bumps.

Handling is surprisingly confidence-inspiring for such a long and heavy motorcycle. Once leaned into corners, the bike feels stable and predictable, while the brakes also offer strong stopping power.

The Breakout is expensive and niche, costing over Rs. 40 lakh on-road in Mumbai, so it clearly isn’t for everyone. But for buyers who want a unique Harley experience, unmatched road presence, and exclusivity, the Breakout delivers something very few motorcycles can.
