Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Cruiser under Development; Launch Soon

  • Will feature traditional cruiser styling
  • To be based on the X440 platform
  • Likely to launch in India in late 2026

Harley-Davidson recently announced its ‘Back to Bricks’ business plan to return to profitability. And one of the highlights of this plan is to revive the Harley-Davidson Sprint model name later this year.

The company has revealed a design sketch of the motorcycle, and it is evident from the image that the motorcycle will be based on the 440 platform, co-developed with Hero MotoCorp. The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 was first announced in August 2025 by former CEO Jochen Zeitz.

Unlike the X440 and the X440T, the upcoming Sprint 440 will appeal to Harley-Davidson purists with its cruiser styling. The teaser image reveals the traditional cruiser styling with a long, low stance. The design sketch also reveals that the bike will use the same trellis main frame, but a lower subframe with a visually smaller rear wheel to lend it the cruiser stance.

The motorcycle will sport a tall-set handlebar, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a chopped rear fender, and a low saddle height with a stepped seat. The Sprint 440 will also feature a relaxed rake angle to offer a comfortable, open-chested rider’s triangle.

Harley-Davidson X440 Engine From Right

Powering the bike will be the same 440cc, single-cylinder motor that powers the X440 and the X440T. This oil-cooled engine makes 27bhp and 38Nm of peak torque, and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. This engine is known for its strong low-end and mid-range torque, and should suit the cruiser characteristics of the Sprint 440.

The Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 will be manufactured by Hero MotoCorp in India, and will be the first bike based on the 440 platform to be exported overseas. It is expected to make its global debut later this year and is likely to be launched in India towards the end of this year. Now, Harley-Davidson hasn’t revealed much about its positioning, but given its cruiser styling, we expect it to sit above the X440T.
