Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel Launched at Rs 82,810

The Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel has been launched in India at Rs 82,810 (ex-showroom). This makes it roughly Rs 5,000 costlier than the standard, E20 compatible Hero Splendor+

The Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel is based on the current Splendor+. However, Hero has made as many as 36 changes to get the motorcycle to be compatible with as high as E85 petrol (85% Ethanol + 15% Petrol). These changes include a new fuel pump, new secondary air filter and a calibrated ECU map.

Hero Splendor Plus Engine From Right

It has a 97.2cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 8.4bhp and 8.3Nm. These power and torque figures are made when the bike runs on E85 fuel. In comparison, the E20 compatible engine makes 7.91bhp and 8.05Nm.

Besides the mechanical changes the bike also features a new set of graphics to enhance the appearance of the bike. There is a new digi-analog instrument cluster as well.

Hero Splendor Plus Fuel Tank

The Flex Fuel variant of the ever popular and high-selling Splendor+ debuts at a time when the Government of India is proposing a higher ethanol blend with petrol than the current E20 (20% Ethanol + 80 % Petrol ) levels.

With the ability to run on E85 compliant fuel, the Splendor+ is a future-ready package, especially when the level of ethanol content in petrol in the future is being discussed and debated, with there being talks of E27, E30 and E85.

Hero Splendor Plus Odometer

Besides the Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel and the Hero HF Deluxe Flex Fuel that has also been launched today, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 Flex Fuel is the only other mass-market bike that’s capable of running on E85 fuel.
