Hero to Introduce Flex Fuel Versions of all Models

  • Hero launched E85-compliant Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe
  • More flex fuel models to be rolled out in the next one to two years
  • E85 retrofit kits for older BS6 two-wheelers are also in the works

Hero Motocorp has confirmed that it plans to introduce flex fuel iterations of all its two-wheelers within the next one to two years. And besides launching E85-compliant version of its existing portfolio, the company is also working on E85 retrofit kits for older BS6 two-wheelers.

E85 means an 85 per cent ethanol blend in petrol, and the government is pushing its adoption to reduce dependency on crude oil imports. In fact, Hero is ready to bring flex fuel versions of all its two-wheelers, but it will do so as the linkage and availability of ethanol grow. The company also affirms that the same models can be re-engineered to be E100-compliant as well.

The company has already ventured into the flex fuel territory with the recent launch of E85-compliant models of the Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe, two of the highest-selling products. These bikes have been developed at the company’s Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. This is in line with the government’s attempts to tweak its supporting policy frameworks to speed up affordable adoption.

The E85-compliant versions of the Hero Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe will start being rolled out from 2026. The bikes will initially be available in Delhi and select regions of Maharashtra.
