Honda Airblade Design Patented in India

Honda Airblade Design Patented in India

Honda has patented the Airblade’s design in India. The Airblade is a sporty scooter sold internationally by the Japanese manufacturer in both 125cc and 160cc engine configurations.

The Airblade looks sporty and aggressive, with a sharp headlight section, a spine on the floorboard, and sleek body panels. In the past, Honda has patented the designs of scooters it sells internationally in India. But this doesn’t mean the brand will launch the scooters in India.

The patent filings do not reveal whether the patented design belongs to the 125cc or 160cc version. That said, it makes more sense for the brand to bring the Airblade 160 to India. It would make a good rival to the Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160.

The Airblade 160 is powered by a 157cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 14.7bhp and 14.8Nm. With its kerb weight of 113kg, it is 29kg lighter than the Hero Xoom 160 and 13kg lighter than the Yamaha Aerox 155.

The scooter gets features such as full-LED lighting, an LCD console, and even a smart key feature. The brand is offering single-channel ABS as well for added safety. Currently, Honda doesn’t have any offering in the growing 150cc to 160cc scooter segment, and the Airblade 160 could fill that portfolio gap.
