ISRO To Launch Chandrayaan-3 On July 14, Lunar Landing Expected In August – Countdown Begins

ISRO is the pride of the nation when it comes to space exploration and satellite technology. Known for its incredible achievements and groundbreaking missions, ISRO has put India on the global map of space research.

The space research organisation is heavily applauded worldwide for conducting space missions on a lower budget when compared to other space organisations. ISRO has also made remarkable advancements in reusable launch vehicle technology with the successful test flight of the RLV-TD.

Recently, ISRO announced that the country’s much-anticipated moon mission – Chandrayaan-3- will be launched on July 14, at 2:35 pm, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

S. Somnath, ISRO Chairman, during the G-20 Space Economy Leaders Meeting, told the media that the Chandrayaan-3 mission will be carried out using the Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3). The launch is scheduled to take place between July 12 and 19.

He also mentioned extending the launch if it does not happen in the launch window. Somnath is confident that the Chandrayaan-3 will do a soft landing and the mission will succeed.

Chandrayaan-3 is the third mission in the Chandrayaan series, and this is India’s second attempt at a soft landing on the Moon’s surface. So far, only three nations have managed to land spacecraft on the airless lunar terrain.

The vehicle consists of 2 modules: an indigenous lander module (LM), a propulsion module (PM), and a rover. The primary goal of this mission is to develop and showcase new technologies necessary for interplanetary missions.

ISRO states that the lander is designed to perform a soft landing at a designated spot on the Moon and release the rover. The rover will then conduct on-site chemical analyses of the lunar surface as it moves around.

According to Somnath, the vehicle would land on the Moon’s surface in the last week of August if the launch occurred as scheduled on July 14. And if the landing does not happen as planned, ISRO will wait another month to make a landing attempt in September.

ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission marks another significant step in India’s pursuit of lunar exploration and scientific discovery. This mission is the result of the hard work and dedication of its scientists and engineers.

ISRO is also working on Gaganyaan, India’s first human-crewed space mission, which will promise discoveries and advancements in the field of space research. Besides the scientific contribution, ISRO has also made significant contributions to societal development of India.
