Meet The Man Who Lives In A Boeing 727 Aeroplane – Eats Cereals & Canned Food

Houses come in various shapes and sizes, and so do aeroplanes. As such, Bruce Campbell, a 73-year-old man from the US decided to make his home in a Boeing 727 aeroplane.

Though Bruce is not a pilot or an aeronautical engineer, living inside an aircraft was his life life-long dream. In fact, Bruce is an electrical engineer and a native of Oregon.

To make his dream a reality, Bruce got in touch with a salvage company to help him acquire a decommissioned aircraft. However, Bruce recommends not to buy decommissioned fuselage through salvage companies as he says they are “Wreckers”.

Instead, he suggests people with similar plans to buy an aircraft that is completely intact. This way the aircraft purchased will be in a much better condition and the total cost is also likely to be lower once you factor in the repair costs associated with aircraft bought through salvage companies.

That being said, the salvage company hired by Bruce did manage to find an aircraft for him. The model they found was a Boeing 727-200 aeroplane. However, to make matters a bit complicated, this plane was not on US soil. In fact, the plane was parked in Athens, Greece.

As such, the Boeing 727-200 aeroplane had to be imported all the way to the US. Fortunately, the aeroplane in question was in flying condition, and it was flown to Oregon. Later, this aircraft was towed to the 10-acre land owned by Bruce.

While the matter may look simple in words, Bruce spent a total of more than $220,000 to make his dream come true. However, out of this money, just $100,000 was spent on purchasing the Boeing 727 aircraft, while the remaining amount was spent on transportation.

According to Bruce, his monthly expense despite living in a Boeing 727 aeroplane is just around $370 per month. This amount includes a $220 property tax and a $150 electricity bill.

It is also worth mentioning that Bruce lives a very simple life aboard his Boeing 727 aircraft. He also added a few amenities such as a washing machine, sink, and microwave oven. That being said, Bruce usually sleeps on a futon and usually eats cereals and canned foods.

While Bruce’s Boeing 727 home may not be able to fly, he is living his dream of living in an aeroplane. Furthermore, he is repurposing an already manufactured unit, which ensures a lesser carbon footprint as well.
