Motor Vehicles department resumes printing of registration certificates in Kochi

KOCHI: The Motor Vehicles department has resumed printing Registration certificates (RCs) of transport (commercial) vehicles at its printing station in Thevara on Tuesday.
However, they will only print 20,000 RCs as they have received a limited quantity of PETG sheets from Kanjikode ITI ltd.
The printing station had suspended printing of licenses and RCs since the last week of November 2023 after ITI ltd refused to distribute them following the delay on the part of the MVD in clearing arrears of Rs 8cr to the company.
Although the cabinet had made the decision to release the amount, the company is yet to receive it. Nearly 10 lakhs of licenses and RCs remain pending to be printed.
Transport vehicles require RCs as soon as possible to ensure their commercial activities are not disrupted. With lakhs of RCs and licenses pending to be printed, even printing 20,000 RCs will take time,” said an MVD official.
