Murugappa group company Montra Electric opens small commercial vehicle plant in Chennai

CHENNAI: Murugappa group EV company Montra Electric’s e-SCV division, Tivolt Electric Vehicles, has inaugurated its manufacturing plant for electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCV) in Ponneri, Chennai.
Spread across around five lakh square feet, the facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, catering to the small and light commercial vehicle (SCV/LCV) segments.
Located 35 km from Chennai city, the newly inaugurated plant will primarily manufacture Eviator, Montra Electric’s latest offering in the e-SCV segment.
Arun Murugappan, executive chairman, Tube Investments of India (TII), said, “TICMPL ( TI Clean Mobility Private Limited) is proud to inaugurate its first dedicated e-SCV plant in Tamil Nadu. We remain committed to innovative and sustainable clean mobility solutions and this plant marks a significant step forward in our journey.”
