The CAQM highlighted that the transport sector is a primary contributor to the region’s pollution, stating that commercial vehicles tend to operate for extended hours and often suffer from inadequate maintenance, emitting more pollutants than private vehicles. To address this issue, the Commission has emphasised the urgent need to transition to zero-emission electric vehicles or CNG-powered alternatives.

In addition to these regulations, the government had previously rolled out the Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme in 2023. This initiative aims to monitor and regulate delivery service providers and aggregators operating fleets of over 25 vehicles, mandating their registration on a dedicated monitoring portal.

The CAQM has also urged neighbouring states such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan to implement similar regulations to combat pollution, particularly in urban areas with high vehicle populations like Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. As the region gears up for these changes, the focus remains steadfast on achieving a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
