New Generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Spotted In India

The latest generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, currently available in international markets, has been sighted for the first time in India. Despite its global presence, Toyota did not feature the off-roader at the Auto Expo 2025. Recent video footage depicting the SUV on a transport vehicle, along with accompanying images of both the exterior and interior, provide insights into the model’s specifications.

The vehicle’s grille, featuring vertical slats, suggests that this is the Prado VX variant. Key exterior features include square LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, 20-inch black alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, and side steps. While the VX variant in some markets, such as Australia, does not include a sunroof, the model spotted in India was equipped with one.

The interior showcases an all-black color scheme, a new steering wheel bearing the “TOYOTA” logo, a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system (likely 12.3 inches), a wireless charging pad, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and AC vents for the second and third rows.

In European and Japanese markets, the Prado is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 204hp and 500Nm, the same engine found in the Toyota Fortuner. However, these markets also offer a 48V mild-hybrid system with this engine, which is not available in India, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In the Middle East and North America, a 2.4-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, shared with several Toyota and Lexus models globally, is also offered.

Launch and Pricing Expectations

As previously reported, the new Prado is expected to launch in India by late 2025. Positioned below the Land Cruiser (LC300) in Toyota’s India lineup, which is priced at Rs 2.10 crore, the Prado will be sold as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Consequently, it is anticipated to be priced between Rs 1.80 crore and Rs 2 crore. The Toyota Prado will compete with models such as the Land Rover Defender.
