Introduction to BYD Seal U

The BYD Seal U is set to expand the brand's portfolio as its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model for the Indian market. Slated for an expected launch by late 2026, this five-seat SUV bridges the gap between pure electric vehicles and traditional internal combustion engine cars by introducing an advanced hybrid powertrain.

Measuring 4,775mm in length, the Seal U offers a spacious cabin comparable in size to the Mahindra XEV 9e. While it shares its overarching design language with the Sealion 7 EV, it incorporates a conventional front grille and specialized hybrid packaging to accommodate its dual-power setup.

Performance and Hybrid Powertrain

Under the hood, the Seal U combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with electric motors and BYD's signature Blade battery pack. This DM-i hybrid setup enables an impressive claimed combined driving range of over 1,200km. International specifications also highlight an EV-only range of up to 126km, with the vehicle made available in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations overseas.

Inside the cabin, the Seal U is equipped with modern technology designed for convenience and safety. A standout interior feature is the large 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system.
