Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has introduced the brand-new Hypermotard V2 to the market, with prices starting from Rs 16.53 lakh. Following a familiar trajectory for Ducati models receiving the V2 engine, this iteration adopts a fresh monocoque frame alongside its powertrain overhaul. At the heart of the motorcycle is an 890cc liquid-cooled V-twin-cylinder engine, which pumps out 120.4hp of power and 94Nm of torque.

Engine Performance and Chassis Upgrades

Although this engine is shared with other models in the manufacturer's lineup such as the Monster V2, it develops its highest output figures within the Hypermotard application. When evaluated against the outgoing 950 variant, this represents an output gain of 6hp alongside a reduction of 2Nm in torque. The motorcycle also incorporates a rear tire that is wider by 10mm, while upgrading original equipment tires from the Diablo Rosso III to Diablo Rosso IV specification. Additionally, stopping power is enhanced through the adoption of Brembo M4.32 front brake calipers.

Suspension duties on the standard variant are handled by a fully adjustable KYB 46mm front fork offering 170mm of travel, paired with a preload- and rebound-adjustable rear monoshock providing 160mm of travel. The stock saddle height sits at 880mm, though buyers can lower this to 865mm by utilizing an optional accessory low seat, or further reduce it to 850mm by combining the low seat with a dedicated low suspension kit. Standard electronic rider aids carried over from the 950 include a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, adjustable ride and power modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter.

The SP Variant Specifications

Stepping up to the SP variant introduces comprehensive performance-focused alterations. The SP model swaps out the standard setup for Ohlins suspension components at both the front and rear ends. Furthermore, it replaces the standard rubber with Diablo Rosso IV Corsas for enhanced grip. In terms of mass, the SP version boasts a dry kerb weight of 177kg, making it 3kg lighter than the standard version.

For prospective buyers, the arrival of the Hypermotard V2 brings a more potent engine and refined electronic features while maintaining versatile ergonomics through adjustable seat heights. The inclusion of track-oriented upgrades on the SP variant provides enthusiasts with advanced suspension and tire configurations straight from the factory floor.
