Royal Enfield Scram 450 in the Works

  • Would be powered by the same 452cc engine as the Himalayan
  • Likely to be offered with a 19-inch front wheel
  • Could feature the same TFT console as the Guerrilla 450 and Himalayan 450

Royal Enfield has been working on the Scram 450, according to our sources. It will be the third bike based on the 452cc Sherpa platform, and is expected to be positioned as a middle-ground motorcycle for customers looking for a good mix of road and off-road performance.

The bike would likely feature a retro-inspired design, similar to the Guerrilla 450 but with some changes. The brand might use design bits like a beak-like fender, a headlamp grille, and different graphics suiting its off-road character.

Powering the upcoming Scrambler would be the same 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, Sherpa engine producing 39.4bhp and 39Nm. The fuel tank might be the same 11-litre tank that we have seen on Guerrilla 450, to reduce weight.

It could get an inverted fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Likely the same Showa units used on the Himalayan 450. The travel could be slightly lower than the Himalayan 450’s 200mm travel at both ends.

The Scram 450 will likely feature a 19-inch front and 17-inch wheel setup, and could be offered with both spoke and alloy wheel options, depending on the variants.

Aside from this, the Scram 450 may get the same console as the Guerrilla 450 and Himalayan 450. It will likely come with the connectivity feature we have seen on both bikes, such as full-fledged navigation and music controls. In addition, it can also get switchable ABS at the rear, similar to the Himalayan 450, for controlled slides while riding off-road.

It could be positioned below the Himalayan 450, with a price that is around Rs. 30,000 cheaper. For perspective, the Himalayan 450 starts at Rs. 3.06 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
