VIDA Enters Nepal Market

  • VX2 Plus, VX2 Go and DIRT.E K3 now offered in Nepal

VIDA marks its entry in international markets by introducing its EVOOTER range in Nepal. The expansion is being handled through a distributor partnership with CG Motors, part of Nepal’s Chaudhary Group. Hero MotoCorp has operated in the country since 2014 and already has an established sales and service presence. This should make it easier to introduce the electric products without building an entirely new retail structure from the start.

The products settle well in different segments of the Nepalese market. The VX2 range is designed for everyday commuting while the DIRT.E K3 is a small electric off-road motorcycle aimed at younger riders. VX2 Plus uses two removable 2.2kWh batteries providing a combined capacity of 4.4kWh.

VX2 Plus also supports DC fast charging with VIDA claiming a zero-to-80 per cent time of 65 minutes. The value of this function will depend on how quickly a compatible public charging network is made available in Nepal. Portable charging is therefore likely to remain the more important option during the early stages of the brand’s operations.

VX2 Go is positioned as the more accessible choice. It uses one removable 2.2kWh battery and offers a claimed real-world range of 75km. VIDA claims the same 65-minute zero-to-80 per cent DC fast-charging time for this variant.

DIRT.E K3 is an electric off-road motorcycle developed for children and uses an adjustable frame system that can be configured in small, medium and large sizes. This allows the riding position to be altered as the child grows, extending the useful life of the motorcycle.

VIDA’s entry into Nepal Hero MotoCorp an opportunity to test its removable-battery system, connected services, charging support and distributor-led EV business outside India. Nepal’s terrain should also provide a demanding test of the VX2 Plus and its claimed gradeability.
