Who is Bhajan Lal Sharma, the new chief minister of Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Tuesday announced that first-time MLA Bhajan Lal Sharma will be the new chief minister of Rajasthan.
“I would like to assure you that all the MLAs of Rajasthan will definitely meet the expectations that the people have with us, with the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we will ensure holistic development of Rajasthan in all areas,” the CM-designate, flanked by his two deputies Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, told reporters.

Bhajan Lal Sharma represents the Sanganer assembly constituency and has served as the party’s state general secretary a record four times.He won the Sanganer seat in the just concluded 2023 state polls, defeating Congress’s Pushpendra Bhardwaj with a margin of 48,081 votes.
Several local BJP leaders said Bhajan Lal Sharma, as party general secretary, was instrumental in expanding the BJP’s base and keeping party workers active during the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government, which ultimately led to BJP’s victory in the state.
They also credited Bhajan Lal Sharma with forming an effective team that maintained connection with the workers through physical and virtual meetings.

Bhajan Lal Sharma is widely considered within the party to be the ‘go-to man’ when it comes to organisational matters.

As per the affidavit filed with the Election Commission, 56-year-old Bhajan Lal Sharma is a post graduate.
His total declared assets are Rs 1.5 crore, which includes Rs 43.6 lakh in moveable assets and Rs 1 crore as immovable assets.
The total declared income is Rs 11.1 lakh of which Rs 6.9 lakh is self income.
Earlier today, Rajnath Singh and other party observers Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey held a meeting in which Union parliamentary affairs minister and Rajasthan BJP election in-charge Pralhad Joshi was also present.
Rajasthan polls were conducted on 199 seats out of 200 assembly seats on November 25, as elections in the Karanpur constituency were adjourned due to the passing of the Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Koonar.

The BJP secured 115 seats out of 199, while the Congress won 69 seats.
In 2018, the Congress won 99 seats, while the BJP won 73. Gehlot assumed the CM position with the support of BSP MLAs and independents.
