Why The New Tata Altroz Is A Game-Changer In The Premium Hatchback Segment

The new is here, and it comes with significant changes. The 2025 model year update has a smarter exterior design, new interiors, and more features. Tata Motors has not confirmed the prices and engine specifications of the new version. However, we expect the Altroz to remain a “bang-for-your-buck” option in the premium hatchback segment, offering multiple powertrain options. Here is why this new Altroz has the potential to be a game-changer.

Stunning Exterior Design

The Altroz has always been a smart-looking car. The update enhances its exterior design. You now see a sharper front end with revised headlamps, which retain the same shape as before, but feature new internals. The front bumper has also been redesigned and looks much more modern. You also see a new set of alloy wheels. The rear profile of the Altroz also gets an update. You see revised taillamps that are now connected by an LED lightbar and a restyled bumper. One big highlight of the new Altroz is the flush door handles for the front doors.

An Upmarket And Feature-Loaded Interior

The cabin of the new Altroz bears a fresh design. The dashboard now looks modern and clean, taking inspiration from newer Tata models such as the Curvv and Nexon. The highlight of the Altroz’s cabin is the two 10.25-inch displays: a central touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. But that’s not where the fun ends. The feature list also includes a 360-degree surround view camera, automatic climate control, dual-tone cabin colour scheme, generous use of premium materials, and a stylish two-spoke steering wheel.

Multiple Powertrain Options

Tata Motors will likely continue to offer the same engine options on the new Altroz as pre-update models. This means three powertrains: an 88 hp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 90 hp 1.5-litre diesel engine. Besides these two, the Altroz will likely get a CNG derivative, using the same 1.5-litre engine as the petrol model. The Altroz offers a wide choice of transmission options: a 5-speed manual as standard, with the petrol models also available with a 6-speed DCT.

Attractive Prices

Tata Motors has yet to announce the prices of the new Altroz. But we expect it to fall in the same price bracket as before, with a slight increase to compensate for the added features. To put things in perspective, the older version retails between Rs 6.64 Lakh and Rs 11.30 Lakh (ex-showroom). The new update positions the Tata Altoz as a stronger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20.
