Rally-Spec KTM 390 Adventure R India Launch Expected In 2026 – Details

KTM is all set to expand its adventure motorcycle lineup in India and this time the focus is majorly on riders who love off-roading. The brand is expected to launch the KTM 390 Adventure R in India in early 2026, most likely in the first quarter of the year, and this new variant will sit above the existing 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X, offering tougher hardware and better abilities for serious trail riding.

This upcoming motorcycle is expected to be showcased officially after KTM’s participation at India Bike Week 2025, where strong hints about the new model surfaced through multiple media reports. With interest already building among adventure bike fans, bookings are likely to open closer to the launch, followed by deliveries starting in early 2026.

The biggest difference between the regular 390 Adventure and the new Adventure R lies in its off-road-focused setup, as the global-spec model comes with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, both using spoked rims. This setup is commonly seen on hardcore adventure and rally bikes, as it helps riders tackle rough roads, rocks, sand and trails more confidently than smaller alloy wheels.

Suspension has also been significantly upgraded, as the 390 Adventure R gets 230 mm of suspension travel at both the front and rear, which is much more than the standard model. This allows the bike to absorb bumps and uneven surfaces far better. Ground clearance has increased to 272 mm, which makes it easier to ride over obstacles without scraping the underside.

Because of these changes, the seat height is now taller at 870 mm, which may feel high for shorter riders. However, KTM has managed to reduce weight despite the bigger hardware. The Adventure R’s expected kerb weighs around 176 kg, making it roughly 6 kg lighter than the standard version.

Powering the KTM 390 Adventure R is the same 399 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine used in the current model and it produces around 45 bhp and 39 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. This engine is known for its strong performance on highways while still being manageable at low speeds during trail riding. The fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 14 litres.

On the features front, KTM is expected to offer a long list of modern electronics, which include cornering ABS, traction control, off-road ABS, multiple ride modes, cruise control and a 5-inch TFT display. Riders can also expect LED lighting, USB Type-C charging, and smartphone connectivity via KTM Connect.

While official pricing has not been announced yet, the KTM 390 Adventure R is expected to cost more than the standard 390 Adventure, which is currently priced at around Rs 3.94 lakh (ex-showroom), so we estimate a price range between Rs 4 lakh-Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
