New Suzuki Burgman Street likely to get ABS variant in the future

The new Suzuki Burgman Street has gone on sale in India at a starting price of Rs. 1.02 lakh. With the 2026 Burgman Street, Suzuki has introduced new features, a larger boot, and fresh styling. While the scooter is currently available in two variants — Ride Connect and TFT/keyless ignition, none of these variants get ABS.

It is pertinent to note that Suzuki sells the Access with an ABS variant but the Burgman misses out on it. On probing Suzuki officials at the launch of the Burgman, they mentioned that the introduction of the Burgman Street ABS is likely to happen in the future.

Some may argue about the point of including ABS in a 124cc scooter. However, given our unpredictable roads with gravel, dust, and slippery mastic asphalt to concrete, the safety net that an ABS or an anti-lock brakes system provides is invaluable. This is especially true in emergency braking situations.

At present, the top-spec Burgman Street (Ride Connect TFT) is priced at Rs. 1.13 lakh, ex-showroom. We could expect the ABS variant to cost more, somewhere to the tune of Rs. 5,000–Rs. 6,000.

Suzuki may also introduce the Burgman Street Ride Connect variant with ABS to make the safety feature more accessible.
