Harley-Davidson’s Revolution Max Production Shifts to US

  • Revolution Max production shifts to the US
  • Pan America, Sportster S and Nightster are the models

Harley-Davidson will bring production of the Revolution Max platform for North America back to the United States. The move is part of its “Back to the Bricks” strategy and will return machining, powertrain assembly, painting and final vehicle assembly work to its facilities in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. This production transition is expected to be completed before the start of Model Year 2028 production in 2027. Harley-Davidson also expects to manufacture over 100,000 motorcycles from its York, Pennsylvania facility in 2027.

The company cites changes in US trade policy and shifts in the global trade environment as the factors that have created fresh opportunities to invest in domestic manufacturing. New CEO Artie Starrs is leaning harder into the American manufacturing footprint for the brand. That will play well with its core US audience where “Made in America” is part of the brand’s emotional value.

The models named in the announcement are the Pan America, Sportster S and Nightster. All three are built around the larger Revolution Max family, not the smaller single-cylinder platform used for the Harley-Davidson X440 in India. Harley-Davidson has described the shift as a North America-specific move for the Revolution Max platform, which means the direct effect is on supply for that region.
