2026 Benelli Tornado 550 Looks Fantastic

  • 554cc parallel-twin engine makes 56bhp
  • Adjustable Marzocchi suspension and Brembo radial brakes
  • Could fill the full-faired motorcycle gap in Benelli India’s range

On sale in euro markets now, the 2026 Benelli Tornado 550 looks like one tasty sport motorcycle for all fully-faired lovers. Instead of being a hardcore supersport, the new one combines sporty styling and capable chassis hardware with a riding position intended for regular road use. And backed by a parallel twin, should be very manageable as well.

Benelli Riding

Tornado 550 has been jointly developed by Benelli’s research and development division and its Centro Stile design team in Pesaro. Its base comes from the TNT 500 concept, but has been redesigned around a full fairing character. Its 554cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine develops a healthy 56bhp and 54Nm, not too much, not too little. This engine is an evolved 500cc twin with its crankshaft arrangement changed from 360 degrees to 270 degrees. Should give it a more uneven firing character and a deeper exhaust note.

The motorcycle has a steel trellis frame with the engine forming part of the load-bearing structure. Front uses a 41mm upside-down Marzocchi fork offering adjustment for preload, compression and rebound damping. Rear monoshock can be adjusted for preload and rebound. Braking comes from Brembo, with the front two 320mm semi-floating discs mounted radially, and a 260mm disc at the rear.

Benelli Instrument Cluster

Benelli says the kerb weight of the bike is 198kg and it comes with a 16.5-litre fuel tank. Its 800mm seat height too sounds more manageable than most. The riding position places the seat below the clip-on handlebars and avoids moving the footpegs too far backwards. This results in a posture feeling sporty without placing much pressure on the rider’s wrists, knees and lower back.

There’s a five-inch colour TFT display with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. Navigation works through the Carbit Ride application. It also gets Normal and Sport riding modes, along with a switchable traction control system. Tyre-pressure monitoring system displays the pressure and temperature of both tyres in real time.

Benelli Right Front Three Quarter

Three colour options are offered internationally, Midnight Black, Tech Silver and Gres White. Tornado 550’s prospects for India are worth considering because of the shape of Benelli’s existing portfolio, which covers scrambler, cruiser, road-touring and adventure-touring categories. Tornado 550 would therefore add a new body style without pushing Benelli into an unfamiliar engine-capacity segment.
