KTM RC 160 Price Increased by Rs. 15,000!

  • Costs Rs. 2 lakh, ex-showroom
  • Rs. 2,000 more expensive than the top-end R15 V4

KTM India has increased the price of its entry-level sportbike, the RC 160, in India. The motorcycle has gotten pricier by Rs. 15,000, which is significant for this segment. It is priced at Rs. 2 lakh, ex-showroom, now. That makes it close to Rs. 2,000 more expensive than the top-end variant of the Yamaha R15 V4, which looks like a better proposition now, especially when you consider the presence of things like a TFT screen, traction control, and a quick shifter.

Now, the price bump might influence the buying decision of potential RC 160 customers to some extent. By just paying Rs. 32,000 more, one can opt for the RC 200, which, surprisingly, did not witness a price hike and continues to be retailed for Rs. 2.32 lakh, ex-showroom. The 200cc version certainly looks like a more enticing proposition now. That said, the entire range of the existing RC models has not been doing well for the brand in terms of sales, mainly because the new-age styling hasn’t been received well by the masses.

The RC 160 runs on a 164.2cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC engine that produces 18.73bhp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm. The high-revving engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. KTM claims a top speed of 118kmph. It is built around a trellis frame and comes equipped with 37mm inverted front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc, accompanied by dual-channel ABS. Other highlights include a 13.75-litre metal fuel tank, clip-on handlebar, an LCD instrument cluster, and full LED lighting.
