Ather Rolls-out Pothole+ Alerts for 450X, Apex and Rizta Scooters

Ather Energy has started rolling out its new Pothole+ Alerts feature for its existing customers. The update is available for all Gen-2 and newer models of the Ather 450 Apex, 450X, and Rizta, and aims to make navigation safer by warning riders about road hazards ahead.

The new feature uses data collected from Ather’s connected scooter fleet to identify road imperfections such as potholes, broken road sections, uneven surfaces, and speed breakers. These alerts are displayed on the scooter’s dashboard while using navigation.

In addition to visual notifications, riders can also receive audio alerts through the scooter’s speakers, the Ather Halo smart helmet, or any compatible Bluetooth headset. This allows riders to stay informed without having to constantly look at the display.

Ather says the feature has been developed through data gathered over several years from its connected scooters by identifying and mapping road conditions across different routes. Pothole+ Alerts is being rolled out as an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Besides the new feature, Ather is gearing up to launch the new EL-platform-based family scooter at the Ather Community Day 2026, scheduled for 29 August. Apart from the new EL-platform scooter, Ather is also expected to introduce a few ecosystem upgrades for the existing range at the annual event.
