Cyclone Biparjoy – Ola S1 Pro Goes Through Flood While Mercedes-Benz Gets Stuck

With Cyclone Biparjoy hitting India with full force, roads are getting flooded, vehicles are getting stuck, and some people’s lives are coming to a standstill – especially in the West of India. In a city in India, a Mercedes-Benz B-Class was seen stuck in a flood while an Ola S1 Pro smoothly and comfortably travels through.

On the road, the Mercedes seemed to have hydro-locked along with other bikes, but the Ola S1 Pro shows its dominance in tackling such situations, even with a pillion; people are heard motivating the Ola rider to make it through.

The Ola S1 Pro has an advantage in water-logged roads over regular Internal Combustion Engines as the ICE engines have openings that water can enter from which can severely damage the functioning of it. On the other hand, the Ola is an electric scooter with an IP67-rated battery, which means the battery is sealed properly and water can not enter.

Vehicles with internal combustion engines, for a long time, have been getting stuck in floods and water-logged situations, resulting in excess mechanical damage. If an engine gets hydro-locked, a lot of money will have to be spent in getting it repaired as water damages are one of the most dangerous to an engine.

When a vehicle gets hydro-locked, the pistons and crankshaft are unable to move due to excess water in the cylinder, causing it to seize. This usually occurs when water enters the engine from the air-filter or air intake.

Electric vehicles aren’t as susceptible to these damages as there is no air intake or air filter, or any place for water the enter the motor or battery. Also, most EVs, nowadays, have to follow a safety rating that stops water from leaking into the battery.

The Ola easily managed to go through the flooded city road and is clearly visible in the video as well. The B-Class, on the other hand, had gotten stuck and this shows that no how premium your vehicle is, a natural calamity can stop you right in your tracks.

However, if the Ola’s battery wasn’t sealed well, the battery could have short-circuited and gone up in flames. This is why batteries should always be sourced from trusted manufactures or from the vehicle’s brand.
