E S’bhum admin on high alert ahead of Nav Varsh Shoba Yatra in Steel City

Jamshedpur: With over a dozen Hindu outfits set to take out a grand Nav Varsh Shoba Yatra on Saturday to mark the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2082, the district administration made comprehensive security arrangements to ensure an incident-free procession.
With 2,000 armed policemen and 100 police officers deployed on the procession route to regulate the celebratory procession under the supervision of 40 magistrates across eight zones, the administration installed additional CCTVs to monitor the actions and movement of the crowd.
Moreover, police squads equipped with water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas shells will be stationed at strategic locations across the four different routes in the east and west ends of the city, a distance of 25km.
Personel of Rapid Action Force (RAF), Rapid Action Police (RAP), Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ), Quick Response Teams (QRTs), and Tiger Mobile (TM) will be on the job to maintain law and order. Additionally, drone cameras will be used to record the movement of the procession. Earlier, the armed policemen received hands-on training in controlling mobs, countering rioters and dealing with arsonists at the mock drill held at the police line ground in Golmuri on Friday.

SSP Kishore Kaushal said the police force was briefed on the measures required to be taken in the event of a law-and-order emergency. Further, the traffic police prohibited the movement of heavy commercial vehicles in the city between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. on the procession day. However, intra-city passenger buses were exempted from the prohibitory orders.
