Recently, Sharmila quit her job because of a controversy related to providing a travel ticket to DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi. Following the controversy, the situation became complicated between Sharmila and the bus owner, leading her to resign.
Kamal reportedly invited the 24-year-old to his office, and she was gifted a brand new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga car on behalf of the Kamal Panbattu Maiam. The actor intends to inspire and encourage her to utilize the car for a rental service, enabling her to become an entrepreneur.
In an interview with the press, the ‘Vikram’ actor expressed his distress regarding the ongoing debate surrounding Sharmila’s situation and was determined to ensure that she became an entrepreneur. “Sharmila should not remain a mere driver. My belief is to create many Sharmilas,” he said.
Coimbatore’s first woman driver, who was responsible for transporting Kanimozhi from Gandhipuram to Peelamedu, had to quit her dream job due to an incident where her colleagues showed disrespect towards the DMK Parliamentarian.
Regarding the car, Maruti Suzuki offers its popular MPV, Ertiga, in four variants -LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+. The car has prices starting at Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes all the way up to Rs 13.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The all-new Ertiga is feature packed and comes equipped with air-cooled can holders, a front-row armrest with a utility box, roof-mounted AC for rear passengers, and auto headlamps. The car also gets a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with voice commands.
Under the hood, a 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 102bhp and 137Nm of torque. The powertrain is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, and the car is also offered in a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In this variant, the 1.5-litre engine can produce a decent 87bhp of power and 122Nm of peak torque.
