Kia Carens Clavis Breaks Cover: Kia’s 7-Seater Gets A Premium Upgrade

The Kia Carens Clavis has been unveiled in India. It is based on the Carens but features several unique elements that help it stand out. The differences between the Carens and the Carens Clavis are primarily aesthetic; both vehicles share the same underlying platform. Kia will sell the Carens and Clavis together, with the Clavis positioned higher in the brand’s portfolio as a better-equipped model. Bookings for the Carens Clavis start from May 9, 2025 at a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Kia Carens Clavis: Exterior

The exterior of the Carens Clavis is significantly different from that of the Carens. Although they share the same overall shape, the front end of the Clavis has been completely redesigned. The design closely resembles the EV5 model sold overseas. It features a three-pod headlight assembly accentuated by sleek LED daytime running lights (DRLs). The front has an electric vehicle-inspired look, with a flat panel as the grille is positioned lower down on the bumper. The rest of the profile is identical to the Carens, except for the new alloy wheels, revised taillights, and redesigned bumpers.

Kia Carens Clavis: Interior

The changes inside the new Kia Carens Clavis are quite noticeable. It features a new dashboard and a two-spoke steering wheel that draws inspiration from the steering wheel found in the new Syros SUV. The Clavis is equipped with dual 12.3-inch displays that are integrated into a single curved panel positioned atop the dashboard. This three-row SUV comes with options for six or seven seating configurations. The Clavis offers an extensive list of features. New equipment includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) capability and a panoramic sunroof.

The Carens Clavis offers the same engine options as the Carens. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115 hp, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 160 hp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 116 hp. Depending on the variant you choose, the available transmission options are a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Kia Carens Clavis: Bookings And Expected Prices

The Carens Clavis will be launched soon in India. Bookings start from May 9, 2025, at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Clavis will be available in seven trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus(O), HTX, and HTX Plus.
