Kia India Flags off First Double-Decker Freight Train for SUVs

New Delhi: Kia India launched the country’s first for transporting from Penukonda railway station in February. This step aims to improve car transportation by making it more efficient and increasing the number of vehicles a can carry.

So far, Kia has moved over 60,000 SUVs using the railway network to northern, eastern, and western India. The new double-decker train can carry up to 264 cars—more than twice the capacity of a regular train, which usually transports around 100 cars.

This initiative will help car manufacturers and logistics companies by making transportation smoother while also supporting India’s infrastructure and environmental goals. As the first of its kind in India, it sets the stage for more innovations in logistics and aligns with the government’s vision of making the country a global leader in manufacturing and sustainable solutions, Kia India said.
