Kia’s Upcoming ‘Game Changing’ Car To Be Introduced On This Date Next Month

is preparing to unveil the facelifted version of its popular MPV, the , on May 8, 2025. Launched in 2022, the current Carens has established a strong presence in the Indian market. The upcoming facelift, however, will not replace the existing model. Instead, it will be introduced as a distinct variant, bearing a new suffix alongside the Carens name and sold concurrently with the current version.

The updated will come forward featuring a refreshed design.

Visually, the Carens facelift is set to feature significant exterior updates. Based on recent spy images, the model is expected to adopt a refreshed front fascia, including redesigned headlamps, a sleeker grille, and updated bumpers. New alloy wheels are anticipated, along with a reworked rear section featuring a full-width LED lightbar, similar in design to the one seen on the updated Kia Seltos.

Interior enhancements, while more subtle, will likely include revised upholstery, new trim elements, and additional colour schemes. Though the overall cabin design is expected to remain largely unchanged, the facelifted Carens will benefit from several new features. These include a 360-degree camera system, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, a fully digital instrument cluster, and possibly a panoramic sunroof in higher-spec variants.

: Engine & Powertrain

The Carens facelift is expected to carry forward the existing powertrain setup.

Under the hood, the facelifted Carens is expected to retain the existing powertrain lineup. This includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (115hp/144Nm), a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit (160hp/253Nm), and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (116hp/250Nm). Transmission options will continue as before: the naturally aspirated petrol with a 6-speed manual; the turbo-petrol with either a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed DCT; and the diesel with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic. Meanwhile, Kia is also in the process of developing an all-electric derivative of the facelifted Carens, which will debut at a later stage.

When launched in India, the Kia Carens facelift will be costlier than the existing model.

The facelifted Kia Carens is expected to be priced at a premium over the current model, which is presently priced between Rs 10.60 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Carens facelift will continue to compete in the MPV space with models such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, XL6, and Toyota Rumion.
