Maruti Suzuki Baleno Scores 4-Star Safety Rating In Bharat NCAP Crash Tests

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno has secured a 4-star safety rating in the latest crash tests conducted by the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), making it one of the safest hatchbacks from the Indian carmaker. This marks the second Maruti model to undergo Bharat NCAP evaluation, following the Dzire.

The safety rating applies to all Baleno variants, including the Delta AGS and Alpha AGS trims tested. Bharat NCAP assessed the car for both adult and child occupant protection, showcasing significant safety improvements in the latest Baleno lineup.

In terms of adult occupant safety, the Baleno scored 26.52 out of 32, while it achieved 34.81 out of 49 in child occupant protection. During frontal crash testing, the car provided protection ranging from marginal to adequate for front-seat passengers, with the driver’s chest and left tibia areas receiving a ‘marginal’ safety rating. In the side impact test, the car earned 14.99 out of 16 points. The results showed good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis, while chest protection was rated ‘adequate’.

One of the most notable updates in the current-gen Baleno is the inclusion of six airbags as standard in higher variants, an upgrade from the previous version, which featured only two. The model also comes equipped with ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and ISOFIX child seat mounts, aligning it with global safety standards.
