Maruti Suzuki Dzire Scores 5-Stars In Bharat NCAP Safety Tests

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has made headlines by becoming the first sedan in India to receive a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, the country’s official crash testing program. This landmark rating marks a major win for the popular compact sedan, especially in a market where safety is becoming a bigger priority for car buyers.

Tested under Bharat NCAP’s latest protocols, the Dzire scored 29.46 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 41.57 out of 49 for child safety. These are among the highest scores recorded so far, reflecting significant improvements in crash protection and safety tech in the car.

During crash tests, the Dzire held up well. The frontal offset test showed good protection for the head and legs of both front passengers, though the chest protection for the driver was rated as marginal. In side impact tests, the car performed better, offering solid protection for the head and abdomen. It also passed the side pole impact test, which simulates a collision with a roadside pole or tree, one of the toughest assessments.

Child safety was another strong point. The Dzire scored 23.57 out of 24 in dynamic tests using child restraint systems and got a full 12 out of 12 for ease of installing those systems. It comes equipped with six airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard in higher variants. This isn’t the first time the Dzire has been recognised for its safety. It also earned a 5-star rating from Global NCAP in 2022, and now, Bharat NCAP’s stamp adds further credibility.
