Maruti Suzuki is currently testing the refreshed Fronx, with a market launch anticipated in the coming months, and it may also be showcased at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Expo. Spy shots reveal a heavily camouflaged test mule of the updated utility vehicle, which is set to borrow updates from the new Baleno. The vehicle serves as a preview for updates to the Taisor, its badge-engineered Toyota sibling, while Maruti is simultaneously working on its second electric vehicle codenamed YMC.
Exterior and Styling Revisions
While the camouflage conceals most surfaces, visible adjustments include a fresh grille housing what appears to be a radar sensor right in the center. The split headlamp setup featuring LED DRLs and a three-pod main headlight cluster is carried over unchanged, though the front and rear bumpers could be slightly tweaked. At the sides, the silhouette, exterior mirrors, and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels remain identical to the outgoing model, but new color options may be introduced to expand choices beyond the current ten monotone and dual-tone variants. The rear profile keeps its connected LED tail lamps, while introducing a significant mechanical upgrade with rear disc brakes replacing the current drum brake arrangement.
The current Fronx pricing begins from Rs 6.90 lakh, whereas the revised model is expected to commence around Rs 7 lakh ex-showroom. Upon arrival, it will maintain its competition against vehicles like the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Toyota Taisor, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kylaq.
Cabin Enhancements and Expected Features
Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout and color scheme are expected to mirror the existing vehicle, though interior leaks have not surfaced yet. The automaker is expected to incorporate several premium additions to address previous omissions, including leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a Clarion sound system, and potentially a sunroof. Standard amenities like the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and a wireless phone charger are anticipated to continue.
Safety equipment receives a substantial upgrade through the incorporation of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and front parking sensors. These additions will complement existing safety provisions such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, a 360-degree view camera, a head-up display, and hill-hold assist.

Powertrain and Transmission Options
The biggest mechanical changes reside underneath the bonnet, where the current 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, Dualjet naturally aspirated petrol motor is expected to make way for the newer 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine. Meanwhile, the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine is slated to soldier on without changes. Transmission choices will encompass a five-speed manual, a six-speed torque converter automatic, and AMT units, alongside a CNG variant that could feature an AMT option for the first time.
| Engine / Powertrain | Transmission | Key Additions |
|---|---|---|
| 1.2-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol | Manual / AMT | Z12E 3-cylinder motor |
| 1.0-litre Turbo-petrol | Manual / Automatic | Carried forward |
| CNG Version | Manual / AMT | AMT option introduced |
Buyer Outlook
The upcoming refresh aims to eliminate existing shortcomings in the equipment list while refreshing the exterior aesthetics. Buyers will benefit from advanced driver assistance features, improved braking components, and an updated powertrain lineup once the vehicle reaches dealerships.
