The facelifted Toyota Glanza is scheduled to go on sale in India following teaser releases from the manufacturer. Much like its badge twin, the hatchback will receive a series of design and feature revisions alongside a major mechanical change under the hood. The updated model is anticipated to carry a starting price of Rs 6.85 lakh (ex-showroom), commanding an expected entry-level premium of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 over the outgoing version. (The Maruti Suzuki Baleno's entry point had a Rs. 11,000 higher initial announcement before being matched to the older base price later.)

Design and Styling Adjustments

While the Toyota Glanza will undergo revisions similar to the recently introduced facelifted Baleno, it will maintain a distinct face. Short teaser clips display a redesigned grille, a fresh front bumper look, and LED fog lamps, while continuing with the same LED projector headlights and integrated LED DRLs as the outgoing model. In profile, the 2026 model will look nearly identical to the pre-facelift version, aside from newly designed 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome-finished door handles, ORVM-mounted turn indicators, and a sharkfin antenna.

Toyota is not expected to alter the rear significantly, retaining the C-shaped wraparound LED tail lights, a chrome bar on the tailgate, and a chunky bumper. Although Suzuki Japan has charted a future powertrain roadmap, implementation will take time, though development processes could potentially accelerate due to rising competition from Chinese New Energy Vehicles (NEVs).

Cabin Enhancements and Safety Features

The interior of the updated Glanza is expected to retain the black and beige cabin theme with revised upholstery, adjustable headrests for all occupants, a 3-spoke steering wheel, and physical climate control switches. Additional equipment includes ventilated front seats, a Qi-certified wireless phone charger with active cooling, TPMS, a branded music system, alongside retained amenities like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a heads-up display, and connected car tech.

Safety equipment is slated to include front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera setup, and a Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) system on the top-spec variant. Six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and hill-hold assist will also be offered.

New Powertrain Options

The midlife update swaps the older K12B petrol engine for the Baleno's new Z12E 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder unit, dropping a cylinder from the previous four-cylinder setup. An optional factory-fitted CNG kit paired with a manual gearbox will be offered, alongside an anticipated CNG + AMT version.

Powertrain Variant Output Transmission
1.2-litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol 81.74bhp / 112Nm Manual / AMT
CNG Option 68.74bhp - 70 PS / 101Nm - 102 Nm Manual / CNG-AMT

Market Position and Rivals

The updated premium hatchback will rekindle its rivalry with the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz, while also competing against similarly sized alternatives like the Citroen C3 X, Maruti Fronx, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. Toyota aims to attract buyers by setting the Glanza apart from its donor vehicle through slight visual differences and relying on relatively lower service costs.
