Nissan Working On A Hyundai Alcazar Rival For India; Grand Vitara Competition Also In Pipeline For FY26

Motor Company is set to expand its presence in the Indian automotive market with the upcoming launch of two notable vehicles: a 5-seater Compact-SUV and a 7-seater B-Multi-Purpose Vehicle (B-MPV). The company announced these plans during the Global Product Showcase Event in Yokohama, Japan, highlighting its commitment to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of Indian customers.

Nissan Will First Launch A B-Segment 7-Seater MPV

The launch of these new models is part of a broader strategy aimed at tapping into high-demand segments, particularly the C-SUV and B-MPV markets, and will complement the existing Nissan Magnite in the company’s portfolio. Following the introduction of the B-MPV, the 5-seater SUV is expected to hit the market in early FY26.

Nissan’s ambitious plans come on the heels of an investment announced in February 2023 by its automotive alliance with Renault, pledging approximately Rs 5,300 crore to introduce six new products in India, including two small electric vehicles and upgrades to the manufacturing facility in Oragadam, near Chennai. This investment will split three vehicles each between Nissan and Renault.

Nissan Aims To Increase Production To 100,000 Units At Chennai Plant

According to a company spokesperson, Nissan aims to achieve production targets of 100,000 units for both domestic sales and exports by localizing manufacturing at its Chennai plant. This ensures that the new models not only adhere to global standards but also support Nissan’s “One Car, One World” strategy.

The proposed 5-seater C-SUV will draw design influences from the iconic Nissan Patrol, promising the reliability and premium craftsmanship that the brand is known for worldwide. Nissan Motor India is gearing up for a significant expansion, with four new products expected to launch by FY26 across the B, C, and D-SUV segments.
