JSW Motors is preparing to launch its maiden passenger vehicle in India, with preparations currently underway to establish retail showrooms nationwide. The official unveiling has been slated for 4 December, which marks a postponement from the initial target of an unveiling around Diwali.

Operating as an independent marque under the JSW Group, JSW Motors remains distinct from JSW MG Motor India, which functions as the conglomerate's joint venture with SAIC Motor. The enterprise maintains a component supply and licensing agreement with China's Chery Automobile to retail Chery-derived models carrying JSW emblems. The inaugural offering will be a five-seater plug-in hybrid SUV derived from the Jetour T2, scheduled for local assembly at the manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. While widely anticipated to adopt the Combat moniker, official confirmation regarding the nomenclature remains pending.

Powertrain and Performance Specs

The India-bound iteration is projected to employ a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol powerplant coupled with an 18.4kWh battery pack and dual electric motors powering the front axle, integrated with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission system. System aggregate specifications generate 360hp alongside 610Nm of torque, featuring a certified all-electric driving range of 90km under NEDC parameters and an aggregate driving range reaching up to 1,100km utilizing a full fuel tank and complete charge.

Exterior styling is anticipated to mirror the Jetour T2 layout, featuring a square-shaped profile, alloy wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 19 inches, robust wheel-arch protective cladding, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Test mule sightings indicate minimal alterations, encompassing updated headlamps and bumpers alongside front Combat branding. Despite the international availability of a facelifted T2 variant, test sightings indicate the domestic version derives from the pre-facelift iteration.

Interior Features and Pricing

Cabin appointments will likely incorporate a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, front seats featuring ventilation and memory functions, a 12-speaker Sony audio setup, six airbags, a 540-degree camera arrangement, and Level 2 ADAS capabilities, mirroring international specifications.
