Toyota Fortuner And Legender Neo Drive Mild-Hybrid Launched In India

Toyota has launched the Fortuner and Legender SUVs with Neo Drive mild-hybrid system in India. These are priced at Rs 44.72 lakh and Rs 50.09 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The Neo Drive variants of the Legender and Fortuner feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery pack to the SUV’s 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel powertrain. Like other mild-hybrid systems, this one also promises to help improve fuel economy by providing electrical assistance to the diesel engine.

Toyota’s Neo Drive is a mild-hybrid system that adds a 48-volt setup to the vehicle’s engine. In the Fortuner’s and Legender’s case, it is a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel unit. The setup includes a belt-integrated starter generator and lithium-ion battery pack. This system provides ‘hybrid’ assistance to the engine, resulting in better fuel economy and smoother low-end acceleration. The onboard battery gets recharged with the help of regenerative braking, similar to what you see in strong-hybrid cars.

What Features Does The Fortuner & Legender Neo Drive Have?

The Neo Drive variants of the Legender and Fortuner will sit at the top of their respective lineups. These will be equipped with several features, such as dual-tone body colours, LED headlamps, dual-tone leather upholstery, soft-touch cabin materials, vehicle stability control, seven airbags, hill assist control, and more.

Bookings for the Neo Drive variants of the Fortuner and Legender have been open from June 2, 2025. Toyota states that deliveries of these models will commence in the third week of June.
