Indore: The implementation of a technologically advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints will facilitate a transparent framework and enhance the flow of logistics from Indore, a major commercial hub in Madhya Pradesh, according to truckers and transporters.
Transporters estimate that approximately 4,000 commercial vehicles depart from Indore on a daily basis, with this figure escalating during festive seasons.

“The govt’s efforts to replace check posts with checkpoints and dismantle several of them to bolster the commercial movement of vehicles from the state are being undermined by the absence of an adequate monitoring system. The authorities should develop a technology-based solution and system to oversee the movement of vehicles from checkpoints, thereby preventing disruptions and alleged extortion,” said CL Mukati, president of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association.
Under the aegis of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, an association of transporters and truckers has written to the Minister of Transport, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, urging the implementation of a tech-based monitoring system to ensure transparent and seamless movement of commercial vehicles from the state.

Another association of transporters, the All India Motor Transport Congress, has also called for expediting the process of adopting the Gujarat model in the state. In July, truckers also appealed to the state transport department to establish a helpline number for transporters and an official app to report issues and complaints.
On July 1, the Madhya Pradesh govt announced the removal of all checkposts on its interstate borders, much to the delight of transporters who had long advocated for the elimination of check posts to facilitate transport movement and curb alleged corruption.
