Upcoming BMW R20 Spotted Testing Abroad

The upcoming BMW R20 has been spotted testing abroad, and the new round of spy shots has revealed some interesting bits about the upcoming bike. The test mule looks production-ready, and BMW Motorrad could likely unveil it at EICMA 2026.

Powering the R20 will be an enlarged version of the BMW R18’s 1800cc engine, with the capacity bumped up to 2000cc. For reference, on the R18, the motor produces 89.7bhp and 158Nm. On the R20, the power and torque are expected to be higher.

The test mule has a close resemblance to the concept that was showcased back in 2024, featuring a similar headlight, handlebar, and tank design to the concept. There are some changes made to make the bike road legal, like the DRLs.

The bike features a steel tubular frame and is suspended on an inverted fork at the front and a paralever setup at the rear. From the spy shots, we can see that the bike rolls on Michelin Road 6 tyres.

BMW has not revealed any launch timeline for the motorcycle, but expect an international launch after the EICMA unveiling.
